da brdice: Lots of West Ham fans have been talking about the possibility of summer target Salomon Rondon moving to the London Stadium following the announcement that Rafa Benitez won’t be staying on at Newcastle United this summer.
The striker was being heavily linked with a permanent move to the Magpies after spending a season on-loan at St James’ Park.
But given the reveal that Benitez will be leaving the Toon when his contract expires on June 30, many Hammers supporters have been discussing the chances of the 29-year-old ending up in east London.
The Venezuelan scored 11 Premier League goals for Newcastle last season and has now been returned to his parent club West Brom.
But it is unlikely he will remain at the Baggies given they failed to secure promotion to the Premier League, and the fact that Rondon proved he can perform in the top flight.
West Ham have already made one signing this summer, completing the purchase of Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals from Villarreal for £24million earlier this month.
And West Ham fans are divided about the prospect of the striker joining Fornals in Manuel Pellegrini’s improved squad which hopes to challenge for a top-seven finish next term.
