There is only one topic that can be discussed when beginning a preview of Manchester City’s season – Sergio Agüero! £38 million was spent to lure the Argentinian away from Atletico Madrid and he has surely turned last season’s FA Cup winners into serious title contenders. He has everything and more and will surely destroy teams singlehandedly during the campaign. Many think he’s also the replacement for Carlos Tevez who wants to leave the newly named Etihad Stadium. Many are banking on him to take Roberto Mancini’s side to the next level but can he adapt quick enough? Who knows he could turn out to be another Robinho! For City fans this will be the most exciting season in their history with a title challenge and Champions League adventure on the horizon.
Swansea City face arguably their biggest and toughest fixture in their 99 year history. Brendan Rogers guided them into the top flight in his first season as manager and now has a massive job to keep them up. Investment has been heavy with Danny Graham signed to score goals and Wayne Routledge to provide them. Scott Sinclair was last season’s top scorer and the exciting winger cum striker will need to be at his best once again if the Swans are to stay up in their debut season at this level. Many have backed them as the ones to stay up out of the three promoted teams but whatever happens it’s certain that the Liberty Stadium faithful will enjoy it nonetheless!
A Manchester City win is written all over this game as they start their title charge with Aguero at the ready. For Swansea their fans will enjoy the day out but it will be a very early learning curve for the players.
Verdict: 4-0
