da aviator aposta: According to reliable insider @ExWHUemployee on Twitter, West Ham United are considering making a move for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon this summer.
What’s the word, then?
Well, when asked about whether the Irons were interested in signing Baggies defender Jonny Evans @ExWHUemployee confirmed that was true, and he added that the club would also be keen on Rondon, who has scored 25 goals in 110 games since moving to England, and goalkeeper Ben Foster for the right price.
The west Midlands outfit are on course to be relegated to the Championship as things stand as they lie seven points from safety with 10 matches of the season remaining, having won only three during the whole campaign.
Losing their Premier League status would also mean that they would ultimately lose some of their better players, who could potentially be available for reduced transfer fees.
How has Rondon done this season?
He has done ok in a struggling team.
The 28-year-old has scored four goals in 26 top flight appearances, and seven in total in 30 outings in all competitions for the Baggies.
The Venezuela international has all of the attributes suited to being a decent Premier League striker, while he showed quality that he does possess with a brilliant volley in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat against Southampton last month.
Would he be a good signing for West Ham?
If Andy Carroll is on his way out this summer and Moyes is looking for a physical striker up top with Premier League experience, then there are few better options than Rondon.
However, if the Scot is looking for a goalscorer rather than an all-round striker then the 28-year-old may not be the right man for the job, considering he has a goal record of less than one goal every four games.
That said, the east London outfit already have a natural goalscorer in Javier Hernandez, and the Venezuela international could prove to be the perfect foil for the Mexican if they are partnered together.
How much would he cost?
Rondon will only have one year left on his contract at the end of this season, and if West Brom go down he could probably leave for a more reasonable fee, with Transfermarkt currently valuing him at €13m (£11.6m).
