da prosport bet: Yannick Carrasco is a flame that was extinguished too quickly with a bold but a rather strange move from Europe to China that saw him put his potential success on hold. The most recent paper talk, however, could see the tides shift once again.
The story behind the papers
Even though he couldn’t materialise his desired transfer back in the winter transfer market, Carrasco has hinted that the summer might just be a bit different, as reported by The Sun in a recent interview with the Belgian.
The former Atletico Madrid man was tempted by a rather generous offer that saw him ripped away from La Liga and into the jaws of the Chinese Super League but has now seemingly admitted his mistake. He said…
“There was interest from Arsenal and I had a lot of teams in January giving me the chance to go back to Europe, but here the president said it was difficult to go then. Maybe this summer it is possible. If it is a good thing and I want to go, maybe I can speak with the president.
“I’m OK here, the club is good with me, the players and fans also are nice with me. But you know, when you are far from your family, and I think I can do good things in the European game, I am thinking it’s a solution if I can go back.”

More than just a transfer
On the surface, the return of Carrasco might prove to be a move the Gunners would indeed be keen to jump on but there’s far more banking on it than meets the eye.
Sure, Arsenal are looking to add the missing piece of the puzzle to their squad that would potentially give them a necessary boost in both the domestic and European endeavours. But could Carrasco be amongst the first of many to soon follow suit?
For quite some time China has been viewed as the black hole of football superstars – a place where their careers go to die, smothered in wealth and publicity. While he may certainly not be the very first, one is inclined to believe that he also won’t be the very last to make the lucrative move.
But if this transfer does go through, would it prove that resurrection is possible and that there is a way back from what most consider to be a career-ending top flight? Paulinho famously moved to Barcelona for a brief spell before returning to China, but the likes of Oscar, Hulk and Ramires have all stayed put.
Carrasco might be one of the first to truly break the trend by excelling in Europe after a spell away, and whether they know it or not, Arsenal could play a huge role in that.
