da poker: Despite only joining Arsenal in the summer of 2018, it appears Lucas Torreira has clubs looking to take him away from the Emirates. The Uruguay international has been a virtual ever-present in the Gunners’ squad since his arrival, and made a staggering 50 appearances across all competitions in his debut campaign at the club.
da brdice: This season saw him used in a more advanced role by Unai Emery in a bid to win the ball back higher up the pitch, but he has recently returned to a more deeper-lying midfield position under Freddie Ljungberg. A report from TuttoMercatoWeb had claimed in recent weeks that Torreira is increasingly convinced about leaving, and now Il Mattino (via Calcio Mercato Napoli) appear to have an update. They suggest Serie A giants Napoli will make an approach to sign the 23-year-0ld in the January transfer window with a loan move or a permanent deal worth €25m.
And after hearing the report, Gunners fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation, with many left fuming about how low Napoli’s potential offer is.
A few fans simply stated that the Gunners should look to keep him as he remains an important figure in their first-team.
Having now seemingly replaced Matteo Guendouzi in the starting line-up under Ljungberg, Torreira has established himself as a key component in the side. And with only just one full season under his belt at the Emirates, the Gunners would be foolish to cash in on him now when they are yet to see him reach his peak potential.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been urged to cash in on this big-money star.
